Summary:  2010 Fabulous Fifties Swim Meet

February 6, 2010

This was the final meet the JETS hosted this season, and it went very smoothly with lots of fun and good swims.  We had 103 kids competing and 97 kids (94%) got at least one best time.  We had a total of 58% best times, better than last year at this meet, and we dropped nearly 30 minutes off our best times.  With this meet, we surpassed the total amount of time dropped from last fall/winter season, and we still have 7 meets remaining.  We had some other great accomplishments, as noted below:

YMCA Values Award

The following swimmer(s) were voted by the coaches to have exemplified the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility throughout the course of the swim meet:

Sophia Galounis

Sophia Galounis most exemplified the YMCA value of Caring at the Fab 50s meet by not only being a loud cheerleader, but also consoling teammates after a couple disappointing swims and for volunteering to be a counter for a swimmer from another team for the 1,650 Free who did not have a counter.

Top Droppers

The following swimmers improved their personal best times throughout the course of the meet by more than any other swimmer in their practice group:

Yellow 1:  Tyler Rothbart (dropped 27.91 seconds)

Red:  Zack Miller (dropped 59.32 seconds)

Yellow 2:  Ashley Walther (dropped 60.76 seconds)
