Carthage College is located on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, on the far north side of Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The pool is big, bright, and beautiful, and has plenty of room for cheering fans which, no doubt, will be conducive to some fast racing.  Good luck, swimmers, and have a blast!

For coaches:  Form for Observed Swim - Click here for the form
The 2006 Illinois/Missouri Area YMCA Swim Championships will be an USA-S Observed Swim under the jurisdiction of Wisconsin Swimming Inc. (the USA-S LSC).  Per their requirements for a sanctioned Observed Swim, all coaches who have registered USA-S swimmers AND wish to have those swimmer's times entered into the USA-S SWIMS database, must fill out Form D and submit to our Meet Entry Chair no later than the conclusion of the Scratch Meeting on Friday, March 10.  Wisconsin Swimming is requesting that when coaches submit their entries to include a valid USA-S ID number for all registered USA-S swimmers that will have their times loaded into the SWIMS database.  For those non-USA-S swimmers, please leave the ID number blank.  Thank you for your cooperation.

UPDATE:  Please check the USA-S Reg ID numbers listed in the entries.  These numbers need to be correct for them to load into the USA-S database.  Reg IDs, team names and team codes must match the USA-S database for the times to be loaded correctly.  Therefore, every team that wants their times entered in the USA-S Database MUST SUBMIT FORM D along with any changes in Reg. ID, USA team name, or USA team code.  Since I will need to make all these changes by hand before submitting a back-up to Wisconsin swimming, I am requiring that all changes or corrections be highlighted on Form D.  Corrections that are not highlighted may not get made.  If all the data is correct please submit Form D stating that no changes are needed.  If Form D has already been submitted but does not follow these guidelines, please resubmit.  Form D is due at the coaches meeting Friday night.  Thank you for your cooperation.  --  Karen Dundek

Distance meet entry clarification
It has been brought to my attention that, in the past, it has been tradition to allow swimmers to be added to the Distance meet if there were any open lanes.  This unwritten rule allows swimmers to enter Friday night events up until warm-ups begin.  We will continue with the tradition this year.  Any swimmer who wants to be added to Friday night should report to the computer room before the start of warm-ups at 5:00pm.  No late penalty will apply.  Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with this matter.

Warm-up lane assignments and timer lane assignments posted  [Uploaded 3.09.06]
Coaches, please review your team's lane assignments for warm-ups and check to see if and when you will be required to provide timers (see links above).

Entries posted  [Updated 3.08.06]
The entries for Distance Champs, Boys Champs, and Girls Champs, for all districts, have been posted on this page (see links above).  Coaches:  Please review and check for problems or possible errors.

Restaurants page updated
I have added a few links to restaurant listings and attractions on the restaurants page.

Time Trial entry information  [Updated 3.02.06]
Attention coaches:  Time trial entries will be due by the completion of the 500 Yard Freestyle (Event 30) during the prelim session of each day of the meet.  Entry forms for time trials will be included in the coaches packets, which will be distributed Friday night at the coaches meeting.  Forms will need to be filled out and submitted to the computer room along with the appropriate fees by the end of the 500 Yard Freestyle events during the prelim session.  Late entries for those events after the 500s will only be allowed if they are submitted immediately following the event.  For example, entries for the Back must be submitted right after the Back, entries for the Breast right after the Breast and Freestyle Relay entries by the conclusion of the prelim session.  No time trial entries will be accepted after the conclusion of the prelim session.  Please direct any questions or concerns to the meet referees Dean Bromann (Dean.A.Bromann@saint-gobain.com) and Dennis Norton (norton@dls.net).

Photographer information
This year, TRC Photo will be taking podium/award and action photos at the Illinois/Missouri Area YMCA Championship Swim Meet.  The award/podium shots may be ordered at the time they are taken.  The action shots are available on a more limited basis and must be pre-ordered.  TRC will be taking photos of only one swimmer per heat, based on when the order was received.  You will receive all of the photos from the heat on a CD and will have unlimited printing rights.  All CD's are guaranteed if there are no acceptable pictures.

There are two ways to pre-order:  The first and best way is to go to www.trcphoto.com.  This will reserve your order early, and there is a $5.00 discount.  Once you have done this, be sure to print the receipt and bring it to the meet to verify your time of order.  Online orders are $20.00.  The second way to order is to visit the TRC Photo table and order before the heat your child is swimming in.  The sooner your order is placed, the more time they have to schedule you in.  Orders placed at the meet are $25.00.  Upon placing your order, you must let them know what event, heat and lane they need to photograph.  Please visit the website, www.trcphoto.com, for more information, samples, or to contact them with questions.

Event files posted  [Updated 2.17.06]
The event files for Team Manager have been posted on this page (see above).

Meet packet  [Updated 02.17.06]
The meet packet has been updated, as of 2.17.06, to include the YMCA sanction number.  Please review it carefully.

Road construction
There is currently road construction happening around the Carthage campus, with the expectation that it will continue through March.  It is estimated that we will be using the south entrance of the campus for the Y Area Champs meet.  The college has set up a website with details and updates regarding this road construction:  http://www.carthage.edu/security/sheridan.html.

Cool way to scope out the area
Google introduced a program called Google Earth, which is a 3-D interface of the entire planet using satellite images.  You can scan and scroll around the globe and zoom into surprisingly tight detail, search an address, and toggle the display of restaurants, hotels, names of roads, and a number of other locations of interest.  The only reason I mention it is because it's an awesomely useful way to scope out an area you've never been before, to find your bearings and learn directions and attractions.  It's a free program; just go to http://earth.google.com and download the file (10MB).

Welcome to the website
This is the place to visit for everything you'll want to know before, during, and after the Y Area Champs meet.  I'll activate the links and add meet information as it becomes available.  Hotel information is now available on the hotel page.  Information on surrounding restaurants and attractions will be forthcoming.  For starters, you can visit the Carthage College website for some information on local attractions and dining.  I welcome any feedback you may have regarding the website; just drop me an e-mail.
